Internal company update from Michael Baker
Even before the transaction officially closed, we hit the ground running. Thanks to your work, PFX was already on track for a record-breaking year in revenue (and potentially profitability), especially after the Q4 surge that came from recent shifts at ASC.
Meanwhile, the ASC team stayed focused on two core areas: Pet Superstores (Petco & PetSmart) and 3PL (direct-to-consumer and direct-to-vet). And now, we’re all in the thick of one of the largest transformations in our history: Project Phoenix.

What We're Tracking
Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s underway:
Cold chain integration: 4 ASC DCs into 5 PFX DCs
Des Plaines, IL consolidating into Bartlett, IL
10 DC system conversions (led by Seth Mayers)
3 physical 3PL moves
3 major NHP reboots
Route optimization using sites like Orlando, FL and Burlington, NC
Our goal: Eliminate long routes and make more deliveries on dedicated PFX trucks, with PFX drivers.
Highlights from the Field
In Denver, CO, we completed our first cutover weekend and it was a huge win. Denver was our test case, and it validated our scoring system. Big thanks to Andrey and Michelle! Your leadership showed urgency, patience, and exactly the mindset we need
In Bartlett, IL, we held a kick-off celebration with the newly combined team ahead of the Des Plaines move on June 23. It’s always energizing to meet you in person and it’s been amazing to see our values in action: family, inclusion, dependability, curiosity, humility.
The Southeast NHP reboot is launching and the Suwanee, GA team welcomed us with open arms (and delicious tacos!). We’re bringing NHP to a region we’ve long wanted to serve, and it’s been incredible to watch plans turn into action.
Our cross-functional support teams are moving mountains behind the scenes to support this massive effort:
- Onboarding new hires
- Training on new systems
- Reslotting 2,500+ SKUs
- Receiving $1.5M+ in purchase orders
- Routing for 81 new customers
- Everything on track for June 2 go-live
What's Next
June will be one of our busiest months yet. Here's what’s coming up:
Every cold chain move requires 3+ year space planning, freezer layouts, and route consolidation. This means getting more product on fewer trucks, more efficiently. And it's only the beginning.
🙏 Thank You
This entire initiative is powered by your expertise, grit, and teamwork.
We shared a version of this update externally yesterday afternoon through a Fireside Chat video on social media, giving our vendor partners and retailers a look at the progress you’ve all made possible.
One of the things I’m proudest of is watching two great teams become one. This is a defining moment in PFX’s story (and in mine) and I’m so grateful to be part of it with you.
